Founder | Specialist NDIS Positive Behaviour Support Practitioner

Caren is the Founder of RenewUs and a Specialist NDIS Positive Behaviour Support Practitioner delivering services under Therapist Collective (NDIS Registered Provider).

She works with participants presenting with complex behaviours of concern, supporting families and teams to reduce risk, increase stability, and build sustainable support strategies.

Caren is often engaged when:

  • Behaviours are escalating or difficult to manage

  • There are safeguarding concerns or risk of harm

  • Restrictive practices are in place or being considered

  • Previous supports have not achieved consistent outcomes

  • Teams need clear structure, direction, and coordination

She provides:

  • Functional Behaviour Assessments (FBA)

  • Behaviour Support Plans (BSPs)

  • Restrictive practice reduction and reporting

  • Practical, real-world strategies that teams can actually implement

  • Ongoing guidance to families and support teams

Caren works collaboratively with Support Coordinators and multidisciplinary teams to ensure supports are clear, compliant, and effective in everyday environments.

Philosophy

At the centre of her work is a simple belief:
Behaviour is communication.

Behind every behaviour is meaning — not just something to manage, but someone to understand.

Calm in Complexity

Caren brings a unique combination of crisis experience, therapeutic insight, and structured problem-solving.

Her background in policing developed her ability to remain calm under pressure and navigate high-risk situations with fairness and clarity.

This is complemented by experience in educational therapy, coaching, and Special Education Needs (SEN) settings, where she developed a deep understanding of regulation, learning, and behavioural patterns.

Today, her work sits at the intersection of clinical understanding and real-world application — supporting teams to move from reactive to structured, proactive support.

Caren holds qualifications in Psychology, Criminology, Psychological Counselling, Behaviour Therapy, Law, Educational Therapy, Behaviour Analysis, and Business. Her work is trauma-informed, risk-aware, and aligned with NDIS Quality & Safeguards Commission standards.
